I got this for my 2 years old, he's crazy about cars but I didn't want to spend too much so I gave this one a chance, and I'm glad I did :)
size is good for my 34" boy, I can see it won't go further than 3y for the size but it's as many of those cars do (we tried a bunch in stores).
putting it together take about 45 mn by yourself, it's really well explained and easy, but there is a bunch of pieces you have to separate first then assemble together so it takes a little while.
quality is ok, it's not a very strong plastic but I expect it will last a year or 2, so that's what needed here.
only little bug is that right where kiddy puts his legs there is 2 little sharp plastics bumps and after a few hours of play my son did scratch his leg on one of the bumps, I took them out melting the plastic smoothly, now it's ok, but be careful with those...
good point also for the motor with pieces and tool, well made for the kid to play with, unlike a bunch of tool set we... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars My one-year-old loves this toy!, July 17, 2011

The Extreme Ride-In is perfect for my inquisitive one-year-old, who already loves to play with tool benches and building toys. After putting the toy together (NOTE: Assembly takes about 45 minutes, so if you want to play out of the box, you should prepare it beforehand), the toy was ready to play with and he began exploring it.

The nice touches by the designers of this toy are evident throughout -- for example, a plastic screwdriver and plastic double-ended wrench have their own little mounting spots in the trunk, so that the toddler can keep his "tools" there for disassembling the vehicle when it needs to be "serviced." There are a number of parts that can unbolt from the vehicle for repairs, including the bumpers and most of the engine.

The car is perfectly sized and the steering is easy even for small hands. My son is still getting the knack of moving the car forward, but he can move it backwards easily by pushing off with his feet.

A durable... Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars For little mechanics everywhere!, July 17, 2011

This is the toy I always wanted as a child. I used to have and love the Little Tikes Cozy Coupe and wondered where the engine was, and this toy has a detailed engine that can be disassembled by young mechanics and little inventors.

Assembly is not difficult and requires only a screwdriver (phillips or flat-head will do; the designers thoughtfully included screws that would work with either type). The parts come on sprues that must be cut apart, but that is simple with a pocketknife or a pair of cutting pliers.

My son loves this toy, although he hasn't gotten the hang of disassembling it yet -- every time I try to show him, he takes the pieces I removed and puts them back on right away!
